When an “off the shelf product” just won’t do!!

We have been compounding at The Wesley Pharmacy since our inception in 1977. Our formulary, range and expertise have grown considerable in that time. In 2010 we prepared over 225 different types of product and made over 25,650 compounded items.  We also recently completed construction of our new, state of the art, compounding clean-room facility.  This enables us to produce higher quality products than ever before.

Compounding involves the preparation of unique medicines for individual patients.  There are many different types of item that we prepare on a regular basis including:

  • Specially flavoured medicines for children and adults to improve palatability.
  • Colour-free and preservative-free medicines for children and adults to avoid ingredients that could cause adverse reactions.
  • Freshly made medicines that have a short shelf-life.
  • Medicines of unique strength or concentration.
  • Liquid medicines or suppositories in place of tablets to improve ease of ingestion and swallowing.
  • Dermatological preparations such as creams and ointments.
  • Sterile products such as eye-drops and injections.
  • Medicines that have been discontinued or are not manufactured in any suitable form.

The actual capsules, creams, liniments, pastes, paints, gels, elixirs, pessaries, suppositories, injections, nose, ear and eye drops, lotions, solutions, mixtures, mouth washes, inhalations, suspensions and other products that we compound are too numerous to list. In short, if it can be compounded, we can do it!

If you have a request for a specific product, please contact one of our compounding pharmacists by emailing frontshop@wesleypharmacy.com.au
